I used a reference of a gentle looking tiger and created a fierce Sabertooth Tiger illustration. I started with a dark silohuette of the figure. Lights shades and darks were added to produce depth and shape. Next, I used a careful combination of filters to create the texture of the hair. The nails, teeth, eyes and other fine details of the Sabertooth Tiger were added by zooming in to the area and using a one pixel wide brush. I created the shadow by duplicating the sabor-toothed tiger, turning the image black and using the tranform tool to skew the dark image flush with the ground. Gaussian blur and a 50 percent transparency completed the look. |
